The contributions that CACHE makes to the profession result largely from the work of volunteers. Still, the organization has inevitable operating expenses, and these are to a large degree offset by support from chemical engineering departments in the US and worldwide. CACHE is extremely grateful for the support of these Academic Affiliates, who benefit both directly and indirectly from the work of CACHE.

Indirect benefits are those that enhance the profession as a whole, and include the various conferences organized by CACHE, the awards that CACHE initiates and endows, the educational resources and activities that CACHE creates or organizes, and the leadership that CACHE provides in moving the profession forward. Direct benefits include substantial discounts on software (such as Polymath), free access to the cachet academic jobs and résumé board, and conference proceedings.

Additionally, representatives at each of the affiliate institutions form a major conduit for the distribution of newsletters, notes, monographs, proceedings, and evaluation copies of software.

The CACHE Board of Trustees is constantly looking for ways to improve the value provided to its Academic Affiliates, and it welcomes suggestions for how to increase the direct and indirect benefits offered to supporters of CACHE.
