80th Birthdays of Long-Time CACHE Leaders Tom Edgar and Jeff Siirola Celebrated at AIChE Annual Meeting

Edgar was honored in a session that recognized Professor Edgars’ leadership, research, and education contributions to the Chemical Engineering profession. Edgar had a very distinguished career focused on process modeling, control, and optimization, co-authored leading textbooks Optimization of Chemical Processes (McGraw-Hill, 2001) and Process Dynamics and Control (Wiley, 2010), and received major awards from AIChE (Colburn, Computing in Chemical Engineering, Lewis) and ASEE (Chemical Engineering Division, Westinghouse, and Meriam-Wiley). 

Siirola was honored in a session chaired by CACHE Advisor, Prof. Rex Reklaitis from Purdue University, the session recognized Prof. Siirola's multi-faceted contributions to chemical engineering profession and process systems engineering domain through leadership, innovative research and outstanding teaching. Jeff is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and is a former secretary of ABET and a former president of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He has been a CACHE Industrial Trustee since 1983 and is currently the chair of the conferences committee.
